Wounds That Lead To Anointing

by | Aug 12, 2024

Pastor Todd and I just returned from a month-long sabbatical. It was much needed! The Lord spoke so deeply to us during that time and brought healing, clarity of vision, focus, and calling in this hour. I feel like I need another sabbatical to write a book about everything He revealed during that time.

One of the powerful, healing, and transformational revelations that He
zeroed in on for me was this:
The Anointing only comes through wounding.

The Holy Spirit has been teaching me again about pain and the anointing. The anointing is necessary to break every yoke, but the anointing does not come without pain, wounding, and hardship.

I began to read more about the anointing, specifically the oil that God prescribed for the priests. The very first ingredient in God’s recipe is Myrrh. The only way that Myrrh can be extracted from the Commiphora tree is through “wounding. ” That is the literal term used for extracting the very first ingredient God ordered for the anointing oil.

“Wounding” is necessary to extract essential Myrrh oil from the Commiphora tree. The places in which they wound the tree to extract the oil are called “tear ducts“. The tree is wounded, and through the place of wounding, the resin flows in the shape of a teardrop from what they call the “tear duct”.

Interesting, huh?

Everyone wants the anointing, but few are willing to go through the pain of the wounding and the tears of intercession that flow, producing the anointing.

This encourages us to embrace suffering like a dearly loved brother and let tears of intercession pour out of the wounds to bring forth the anointing.

To be quite honest with you, I did not want to step back into the battle after our sabbatical. We went into the sabbatical with so many war wounds, and God brought deep healing and restoration. This is so crazy, but God gave me a dream in which John Wayne rode up to me on a horse. I know this sounds crazy, but in my dream, John Wayne pointed at me and said, “Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway.” I woke up from that dream asking the Lord, “Why did I just see and hear what I saw and heard in the dream? What does this mean, Lord?“

Two days later, I was in my prayer closet thanking the Lord for all of the healing He had done in my heart during our sabbatical. I then began to express to Him that I was terrified to go back into the battle because I didn’t want to be wounded, attacked, and abused again. Immediately, the dream flashed in my mind, and at that moment, I realized why God had John Wayne visit me in my dream.

The battle we are all in is real and intense. We are fiercely hated by hell, but the Lord is with us! And yes, we will be wounded in the battle, but it is the wounding that pierces us and leads to tears of intercession that make way for the anointing!

The Lord himself will lead you and be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you, so do not lose courage or be afraid.”
Deuteronomy 31:8.
